| | | My whole emphasis is on helping a person maintain their independence and dignity. There are many products that can make, what appears to be an insurmountable task, obtainable. Scan the challenges in this section. You may not be aware that there is a product sold that will help. One product I want to really praise is the motorized blinds. I have personal experience with this challenge and solution. Since I could not climb around furniture to reach the controls, I would just keep blinds closed. With motorized blinds, I just point and click to open or close them. How wonderful. Now I have sunshine in my life. Minor adjustments to a household can make living more accessible for the handicapped, disabled or elderly. An automatic door system can be created with a swing door opener. Motorized blinds can solve the problem of getting around furniture to adjust window coverings. Obstacles can be overcome by using an automatic trashcan, faucet, soap dispenser, vacuum (Roomba), floor washer, or lawn mower. If standing after being seated is difficult, try a furniture, (sofa or chair) riser, an Uplift power seat, or a lift chair. The problems a round door knob creates can be eliminated with a lever handle.
